This website is meant to showcase my assignments for my Principles of Leadership class at Appalachian State University. The assignments in this class were primarily geared towards our own personal development via reflection essays and group assignments. Team work was heavily utilized in order to expose us to an organizational setting of working with teams in order to get things done. As this was a senior-level course, it was largely focused on getting us ready to set out in our first jobs and how to be good managers once we reach that level; there was a high sense of practicality here.

Emotional Intelligence (EI)
As a health care manager, you will have to be a good leader, and knowing your own emotional intelligence is a great way to start. A competent leader is one who knows their own strengths and weaknesses and there are many tools that help you find these out online. It is pertinent to do so before taking a managerial role as you will have direct authority over a number of people, and the way you conduct yourself will have a direct impact on your team and how they perform.
We were encuraged by our professor to join a professional organization, association or network within the sector we want to be employed. I am seeking to get into physician practice management, therfore, I joined the Medical Group Management Association as a student member so I could benifit from all they have to offer. Through my membership here, I look to advance my knowledge of physician practice management specifically, as well as the Health Care industry as a whole.
